Church of the poisoned mind.....

Well having got the stage where I had to ask UDK to step outside for a moment and sorting our differences out with a good ole round of fisticuffs, we now see eye to eye.

After 3 re-installs, many pots of coffee and infinite expletives, I have finished blocking out my church design.  It's quite dark and eerie at the moment.  I've only added a couple of point lights so far and there is only the moonlight coming through the roof to light the scene (cue the wolves....awoooooo.....).

To the death..... Amen

For our next assignment we have to design an build a death match level using UDK3.

My design is going to based on a  church or cathedral, which I thought would be quite an interesting to architecturally and I would be able to get lots of height into the level and lots of nooks an crannies to run around and hide in.


I did some research on the the layout of churches and found that they are mainly based around the cruciform ground plan, so will need to incorporate that into the design.


I also want to have some kind of outside space that the player can run around in so have decided to have a lake of fire and brimstone surrounding the church with various walkways across to add peril to the game.

 I have done some basic sketches of how I think the level should look, and then copied then out onto graph paper to make sure the different floor aligned correctly to scale.





 I finally decided to set the level on 3 level with an outside area on the ground level.

So now to start building it in UDK..........
